Avoid J.C. Penney this Father's Day

Avoid J.C. Penney this Father's Day

Penney's is continuing its same-sex marriage promotion in advertisements. JCP's June catalog highlights "two dads" celebrating Father's Day.

The ad shows two men on the floor playing and hugging their two children at home. It reads, "First Pals - What makes Dad so cool? He's the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver - all rolled into one. Or two. Real-life dads Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason."

It is obvious that JCP is promoting the normalization of homosexual marriage.

AFA encourages your family to avoid shopping at JCP at least through Father's Day.

TAKE ACTION

1. Call Penney's corporate office at 972-431-1000 and let them know you family will not be shopping their stores this Father's Day (or beyond).

2. Call, or visit your local store manager. Local managers are more likely to listen to your concerns and pass them along to the corporate office. You can find the phone number of your local store here, or in your local phone directory.

3. Because JCP blocks emails from our server, you can send your own personal email to Penney's at jcpcorpcomm@jcpenney.com.

NAACP Leader Resigns Over Same-Sex Marriage Support

NAACP Leader Resigns Over Same-Sex Marriage Support http://www.charismanews.com/us/33573-naacp-leader-resigns-over-same-sex-marriage-support http://www.charismanews.com/component/content/?view=featured  Mon, 11 Jun 2012 17:08:19 GMT

The NAACP may support gay marriage, but that doesn’t mean all its leaders do.

In fact, Rev. Keith Ratliff, president of the NAACP’s Iowa-Nebraska conference and pastor of Maple Street Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa, has resigned from the organization “due to the NAACP’s position and support of same-sex marriage.”

The NAACP released a resolution on May 19 supporting marriage equality. At a meeting of the 103-year old civil rights group’s board of directors, the organization voted to support marriage equality as a continuation of its historic commitment to equal protection under the law.

"I want to thank the NAACP for the privilege to humbly serve in such an organization and thank all those I had the privilege to work with in the states of Iowa, Nebraska and throughout the country," Ratliff in a statement.

Obama announced in May that he believes same-sex couples should be allowed to get married, setting off a firestorm of criticism in the African-American church community.

"I want to thank the NAACP for the privilege to humbly serve in such an organization and thank all those I had the privilege to work with in the states of Iowa, Nebraska and throughout the country,” Ratliff said.

Roslyn M. Brock, chairman of the Baltimore, Md.-based NAACP’s board of directors, thanked Ratliff on the NAACP’s behalf for his service. She also said the NAACP strongly affirms his personal convictions as we do the religious conscience of all people as protected under the First Amendment.

"The constitution of the NAACP states that our mission is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of all people. Our resolution to oppose any national, state, local policy or legislative initiative that seeks to codify discrimination or hatred into the law or to remove the Constitutional rights of LGBT citizens remains within the scope of this mission,” Brock said in a statement.

"We do did not issue our support of marriage equality from any personal, moral, or religious perspective. However, we affirm that civil marriage is a civil right, and our support for marriage equality is consistent with equal protection under the law provided by the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution. We understand that there will sometimes be differences of opinion in our ongoing struggle to eliminate discrimination in this country, and we will always welcome diverse voice at our table.

Judge lets lesbian cash in on 'marriage'

Michael F. Haverluck

A judge in New York has taken advocacy for normalization of same-sex “marriage” to the next level, ruling this week that a major component of the federal Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional because it doesn’t provide the same financial benefits for homosexuals and lesbians.

The ruling from District Judge Barbara Jones was that a federal law defining marriage as a legal union between a man and a woman is not consistent with the U.S. Constitution.

“[DOMA] intrude[s] upon the states’ business of regulating domestic relations,” Jones stated in her decision this week. “That incursion skirts important principles of federalism and therefore cannot be legitimate, in this court’s view.”

There have been a number of judges who have ruled in favor of same-sex “marriage” ever since the Obama administration said it would refuse to defend the law of the land – the federal DOMA. Then Barack Obama recently announced his complete “evolution” to fully endorse same-sex “marriage.”

“President Obama has been actively promoting an agenda to undermine the nation’s marriage laws,” said Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver. “When you weaken the family, as President Obama is doing by his policies, you weaken society.”

The White House’s increased support of same-sex “marriage” is seen as emboldening more people over the past few years to sue the government by challenging existing laws under the federal DOMA.

In 2010, Edith Windsor filed the New York suit against the government to get back $363,053 that she was required to pay in federal tax on her deceased partner’s estate. The two were “married” as a same-sex couple in Canada two years before Windsor’s partner died in 2009. Windsor sued because she was ineligible to claim the unlimited marital deduction.

Striking down federal law, Jones included in her ruling that the government must reimburse Windsor the entire amount she was legally obligated to pay in estate tax.

And those supporting the homosexual agenda are hoping and claiming that the Empire State’s ruling against DOMA is more than a fad.

“[The decision is] another example of the trend of the judiciary continuing to see that treating same-sex couples differently than their heterosexual counterparts is not only wrong but goes against the laws of equality and justice here in the United States,” said Marriage Equality USA Executive Director Brian Silva.

The American Civil Liberties Union is endorsed the normalization of homosexual behavior.

“[This] adds to what has become an avalanche of decisions that DOMA can’t survive even the lowest level of scrutiny by the courts,” commented the ACLU director of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Project, James Esseks.

Even New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman applauded Wednesday’s ruling, calling it “a major step forward in the fight of equality.”

The decision came less than a week after a similar First Circuit ruling was issued in Boston that declared as unconstitutional a section of DOMA that reserved federal benefits only for couples in marriages that are between one man and one woman. On May 31, the federal court of appeals judge in Massachusetts – the first state to allow same-sex “marriage” in 2004 – affirmed a 2010 decision made by a federal judge.

But Staver says that this battle over DOMA is far from over, as the U.S. Court of Appeals indicates that the U.S. Supreme Court will have the final say in the Bay State’s matter.

“We have done our best to discern the direction of these precedents, but only the Supreme Court can finally decide this unique case,” Staver explained regarding the final outcome of the Massachusetts case, which he believes has been poorly judged.

“This ruling makes no sense. A state cannot dictate the kind of benefits the federal government must provide,” contested Staver. “If a state recognizes polygamy, does that mean that the federal government must also recognize multiple spouses? Absolutely not! This decision is the proverbial tail wagging the dog.”

Yet these types of decisions aren’t only seen on the East Coast. The tide of judicial activism to abolish marriage protections began earlier this year when a couple of federal judges in California ruled that DOMA works to violate “married” same-sex couples’ due-process rights. With the push over the years to legalize same-sex “marriage” much legislation has taken place across the United States.

Since 1996, more than 30 states have approved and instituted amendments to protect marriage as between one man and one woman, while eight states allow – or are in the final stages of allowing – same-sex “marriage,” including Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, Iowa, Maryland and Washington State, as well as Washington, D.C. Legislation allowing same-sex “marriage” is not yet in effect in the latter two states, where referendums could determine their final fate.

Despite all of the political and judicial maneuverings over same-sex “marriage” that are taking place just months out from this year’s presidential election, pro-family advocates want America to remember the most important thing at stake here.

“Children fare best when raised with a mom and a dad,” Staver said. “Redefining marriage to something it was not intended to be weakens the family and is not in the best interest of children or society.”

Washington Voters Block Gay Marriage from Starting

http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/ Washington Voters Block Gay Marriage from Starting

Citizens of Washington state have blocked a gay marriage law from taking effect.

Citizens of Washington state have blocked a gay marriage law from taking effect.

The state was going to allow same-sex marriages to start taking place today, but the group Preserve Marriage Washington gathered enough petition signatures to halt that and put the issue on the ballot this fall.

They needed 120,000 and they gathered twice that many -- 240,000.

"This is exclusively about preserving and protecting marriage as we have known it, that's why almost a quarter million people put their signatures on this petition to protect marriage," Joe Fuiten, senior pastor of Cedar Park Assembly of God, said.

No state has ever approved gay marriage when voters were allowed to weigh in.

Fort Polk Same-Sex Ceremony Sparks Christian Outrage

http://www.charismanews.com/component/content/?view=featured Fort Polk Same-Sex Ceremony Sparks Christian Outrage

Christians and conservatives alike are up in arms about a recent same-sex ceremony conducted at a Fort Polk chapel in La.

"This ceremony evades the intention and violates the spirit of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) which remains the law in America, defining marriage as a union of one man and one woman for all purposes under federal law,” says Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a Marine Corps veteran and former Louisiana legislator. "The Obama administration is once again using the military as a vehicle to advance its social agenda which plainly includes tossing aside the marriage laws of forty-four states.”

The Defense Department repeated its “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy in 2011. At that time, chaplains at military bases were given permission to oversee private ceremonies so long as they do not violate state and local laws. Louisiana is a state in which voters have approved a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

The Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty is also upset about the ceremony, which included two female soldiers. While the ceremony was not a marriage, it is clear that this was in fact a marriage-like ceremony, and it was performed on a military base in a state that has a clear definition of marriage in their state law, argues Ron Crews, executive director for the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty.

“The Department of Defense is bowing to a political agenda to turn our nation’s military into a social experiment,” says Crews. “It is time for the American public to say, ‘Enough!’”

In the wake of the ceremony, U.S. Rep. John Fleming, whose district includes Fort Polk, says the liberal social experiment with our military continues. He reinforced the truth that a same-sex marriage-like ceremony should not have occurred at Fort Polk, especially since the people of Louisiana have made it abundantly clear that our state does not recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions.

“My frustration is compounded by the fact that a social agenda, which has nothing to do with military readiness or our national defense, is being imposed on our men and women in uniform,” Fleming says. “The repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ made incidents like this inevitable, and makes the case for the Senate to follow the lead of the House of Representatives in passing legislation that prevents military facilities from being used for same-sex marriages or marriage-like ceremonies.” http://www.charismanews.com/us/33555-fort-polk-same-sex-ceremony-sparks-christian-outrage http://www.charismanews.com/component/content/?view=featured

What is the New Atheism?

Question: "What is the New Atheism?"

Answer: The early 21st century has seen secularism and atheism promoted throughout the Western world with an ever-increasing vigor and militancy. This has led to the emergence of the “new atheists,” notable members of which include best-selling authors such as Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, Richard Dawkins, and Christopher Hitchens.

The contention of the new atheists is, obviously, that there is no God. Adherents to the philosophy of new atheism believe that blind, natural forces are responsible for all of reality which we perceive. The new atheists do not restrict themselves to a passive disbelief. Rather, they are actively engaged in admonishing others to follow suit, to declare their non-belief in God, and to take the necessary steps to rid the world of religious belief and practice. As outspoken atheist Richard Dawkins puts it in The God Delusion, “I do everything in my power to warn people against faith itself.”

An ironic feature of the new atheism is its strong faith in the inferiority of... "Read more: What is the New Atheism?

Why does unbelief appear to be increasing in the world today?

Question: "Why does unbelief appear to be increasing in the world today?"

Answer: Studies show that unbelief is indeed on the rise these days. We are living in increasingly secular times and, unfortunately, those who do not believe in the truth of Scripture often seem to have the loudest voices in the public domain. Skeptics are becoming bolder and more vocal, and their influence is seen in education, entertainment, court systems, and government. They have made significant progress toward their goal of having God’s name entirely removed from the public realm.

Add to this the fact that we are living in what some call the most “biblically illiterate times,” and it’s apparent why unbelief is on the rise and why moral standards continue to deteriorate. Other factors include the pervasiveness of secular humanism; the church’s halfhearted adherence to the hard truths God’s Word; the significant growth of New Age and Eastern religions; the attempts to redefine the family; the postmodern rejection of absolutes; and the aggressive rise of the New Atheists.

How much power does Satan possess?

Satan Is Real
Satan Is Real (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Answer: Satan was an angel created by God who turned against God’s authority (Isaiah 14:13) and became the head of a kingdom of evil spirits called demons, his “angels” (Matthew 25:41). His power both in the heavenly realm and on earth is great and should not be underestimated. However, while Satan and his forces are formidable enemies, Jesus Christ crushed Satan’s power, fulfilling the prophecy of Genesis 3:15. The cross of Christ won the victory (John 12:31). “The prince of this world now stands condemned” (John 16:11), and Jesus will one day destroy Satan’s power completely and purify creation (2 Peter 3:10).
