The recall election of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was a critical bellwether. A Walker loss would have guaranteed more ruinous, out-of-control government spending, where unions and their vested interests dictate terms through violence, thuggery and deceit. But the Wisconsin electorate rejected that path, handing Walker a resounding victory. This will embolden leaders in other states to tackle similar problems head on.

Governor Walker deserves our heartfelt thanks for his steadfast determination to do the right thing. But you will never know just how difficult this was if you get your news from the “mainstream” liberal media. While shamelessly championing the Democrats’ cause, they completely ignored the unprecedented, outrageous campaign of hate and lies promoted by those same Democrats and their public employee union allies. This shameless, naked, self-serving attempted power grab is a story in-and-of itself.

Liberal Nonsense Of The Day: Ed Schulz Grieves Wisconsin Edition |

On Wednesday, Liberal puppet Ed Schultz bemoaned the crushing defeat dealt to union supporters in Wisconsin. While it certainly comes as no surprise that Schultz would be upset about the victory of fiscal responsibility in Wisconsin, he took it in a weird direction.

Schultz began his diatribe exclaiming his astonishment that, according to NBC polls, 27% of union members and 38% of union households voted for Scott Walker.

Schultz stated:

“27% of union members said, ‘Hey, he’s our guy! He’s taken our voice away in the workplace, but he’s our guy!’ amazing!… This guy has gone after your wages, he has gone after your pension, he wants to limit your voice in the workplace and union families in Wisconsin, you voted for him?”

It seems Schultz can’t fathom a world where not everybody in a union loves being forced to be in a union in order to work in their chosen profession.

I honestly don’t know where this myth of Walker’s stripping workers of their voice came from. The collective bargaining restrictions weakens the unions’ ability to enforce the collection of dues and, if anything, gives workers a larger voice in the workplace as they have been unbundled from collectivist work practices. Under the system of entrenched unionization, workers are heavily accountable to unions, paying them thousands of dollars each year for the privilege to work and being forced to participate in many jobs that all but mandate union membership. I would submit that union members who voted for Walker may not wish to be under the “protection” of unions much like Cubans floating on a home-made raft no longer wish to be under the “protection” of Castro.

Then Schultz, explaining how such a thing could happen, followed Obama’s lead and insinuated that the Wisconsin results were products of the ignorant, cheese-eating hillfolk that clung to guns and religion as a means of political understanding:

“Wait a minute… wait a second… that’s right! President Obama brought this up years ago on the campaign trail when he said folks in rural areas cling to their guns and their religion and he was criticized for it. Walker wins! Will stay in office

Wisconsin GOP Gov. Scott Walker will stay in office, becoming the first governor in U.S. history to survive a recall election.

The race had Walker winning with 53 percent to 46 percent, with 97 percent of precincts reporting. Hari Trivedi, an independent, received 1 percent of the vote.

“First of all, I want to thank God for His abundant grace,” Walker told an ecstatic crowd celebrating his victory. “Tonight we tell Wisconsin, we tell our country and we tell the world that voters really do want leaders who stand up and make the tough decisions.”

Voter turnout was heavy in the race between Walker and Democratic challenger Tom Barrett, the Milwaukee mayor he faced in 2010 and beat by nearly six points. Walker successfully fought off a union-led effort to unseat him during his first term after he eliminated collective bargain agreements for state employees to close a multi-billion dollar budget gap.

Walker dominated among tea-party supporters, while Barrett led among union voters.
CBS News exit polls showed 51 percent of Wisconsin voters approve of Walker’s handling of the issue of collective bargaining. Likewise, 52 percent support his job-creation efforts.

In 2008, Obama won Wisconsin by 14 points. Now, the Walker victory is leading some Republicans to suggest the state might be within reach for presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. If Romney is successful in Wisconsin, he will be the first Republican Party nominee to carry the state since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

According to reports, approximately $64 million had been spent on the race since November, setting a new state record. The record was previously set at $37.4 million during the 2010 governor race.
Barrett complained today, “What’s happened is, Scott Walker has become the rock star of the far right and has been able to raise literally millions of dollars from out-of-state contributors.”

Former President Bill Clinton, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley turned out to support Barrett, while Republican stars campaigned for Walker – including  governors Chris Christie of New Jersey, Nikki Haley of South Carolina, Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Bob McDonnell of Virginia, as well as U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio from Florida and legendary action star and WND columnist Chuck Norris.

“When I saw [Democrats] also send in the big guns, former President Bill Clinton himself, against Gov. Walker, I knew I had to enter the ring, too,” Norris said in his column on WND.

“There’s one primary reason that Clinton came out to Wisconsin to engage in the battle to recall Gov. Walker,” he explained.

“Democrats, liberals and progressives like him know that as Wisconsin goes on Tuesday, so possibly goes the nation in November. They fear that a win for Gov. Walker will contribute to conservative momentum that will ultimately lead to President Obama’s defeat in his campaign for re-election.
